Our Blog

We are writing this blog to share our genealogy research and information on our family connections. Our connections are on both sides of the world. Charlotte from Denmark has a known family member who came to Australia in the 1800s, and it will be great sharing her connections to Yackandandah, Victoria, Australia.

If Covid 19 hadn’t occurred in 2020, we had thought we would have taken Charlotte for a visit to that small historic village in the northeast of the state. We planned to introduce her to the village’s local historical society, where I know they have lots of information on her ancestor and his family in Australia.

In Denmark in 2019, Charlotte took John and me to the area of Denmark, which seems to be our common ancestral home. She also introduced us to the Local Family Historical Society in Knebel. Even though it is usually closed on the day we were there, members opened up for us and gave us a chance to see what they had. Lizzie from the Society gave me hope that “Robert” could be a Danish name.

Finding out the names of our two times great grandfather Robert Smith’s parents is one of the main reasons for this blog. However, the blog also tells the Tronier, Haaber and Schmidt families’ stories, all from Denmark, while searching for Robert Christian Smith’s parents from Aarhus.
